A detailed assessment is carried out by our
experienced consultants on your first visit.
This will involve taking a history of your injury,
understanding your lifestyle and determining what you want to
achieve. We assess your
posture, joint range of motion, muscle function, strength, and
movement patterns. This allows us to gain a holistic view of
your current situation and a baseline measure of your current
ability.
If fitness testing is required we carry this out
using a variety of methods from the simple to the sophisticated in
our lab, dependent on your needs.
Photos and video clips of your posture and
movement are typically taken in order to help make more accurate
measurements and assessment of body alignment.
You get a chance to view these at the end of the assessment so you
can see for yourself what we see. We will also use this visual
record to compare your progress in the future as you restore
balance to your muscles and joints.
You will need to wear appropriate clothing and
footwear. Males should wear
shorts, t-shirt and exercise shoes. Women should wear shorts or tighter
fitting sports pants, a supportive bra or crop top, t-shirt or top
and shoes. Feel free to wear warmer clothing on top of this.
Allow 1 ½ to 2 hours for the assessment. Occasionally it can take longer if the problem is complex.
